First German-Moroccan Energy Day

Debating key energy transition and bilateral energy cooperation issues with a large audience at the first German-Moroccan Energy Day

The first German-Moroccan Energy Day brought together recognized experts from key energy institutions of the two countries, think tanks, representatives of industry and civil society, as well as more than 350 participants under the motto "succeeding with the energy transition, together”. This first edition was the occasion to communicate and discuss key topics of the energy transition and German-Moroccan cooperation with a large audience, from long-term energy planning to broader society engagement. Job creation, opening markets to investors as well as making energy systems more flexible to integrate large amounts of renewables were also part of the debates. The conference received wide coverage in the Moroccan media.

The event was organized back-to-back with a meeting of the PAREMA working groups, which discussed and planned further activities in the field of long term energy planning, network integration, wind industrial sector, sustainable mobility and climate finance. These activities are implemented either by PAREMA Secretariat with GIZ support from BMWi, or by other GIZ technical cooperation projects funded by other Ministries such as BMU or BMZ.
